Intro

Hi guys, as you know I’m a huge fan of Singleton Rulers ever since Ayu, Lunar Swordswoman (ADK-060) // Ayu, Shaman Swordswoman (ADK-060J)‘s release. Therefore I decided to bring Zeus, the First Olympian (GRV-087) // Order of the Olympians (GRV-087J) to the Wanderer Discord Case Split event and finished it with first place being undefeated. After I had built the deck I playtested a lot to get a grip on the deck and understand about what is good and what not, while also getting some input from my friends what is good or what is not good. I would like to thank Jeremy for running an amazing event and thanks to fowlibrary for publishing my article. I also streamed all my matches (including the top 4 matches) on my YouTube channel and in the description you will find the timestamps to the games. Without further ado I will now walk you through my matches and the deck I played, using the Discord names of my opponents.

First round I get a bye sadly, so I don’t have record anything… so yeah, let’s start with round two ๐Ÿ˜‰

Round 2

I had play against Deathman208 playing Dante, Seven Deadly Sins (GRL-072) // Order of Satan (GRL-072J). Since we’ve been playing some test matches on Untap, we knew each other’s decks very well. I had start on the play the whole tournament during Swiss due to being the top seed. My first search with Zeus, the First Olympian (GRV-087) // Order of the Olympians (GRV-087J) was the Arena Expansion: Mount Olympus (GRV-073). This Addition is so good because it can filter your hand and lets you draw a lot of cards, because when you discard a Twelve Olympian you draw two cards instead of one and the Arena lets you recycle your Twelve Olympians if needed back in your deck. MVPs here in game 1 were Hera, the Ninth Olympian (GRV-080) to rip a card from your opponent’s hand, while giving you information (since knowledge is key in this game), Wall of Terror (TST-033) for getting rid of your own cards in hand and get to Union Seven faster, The Essence of Athenia’s Power (GRV-062) for get rid of your opponent’s graveyard, and lastly Typhonomachy, the Final Duel (GRV-086) for getting back all your stuff, followed up by doing a lot of things and winning the game since all the triggers are just too much and I can swing for game or burn my opponent to death. Game 2’s MVPs were Hera and Hades, the Fourth Olympian (GRV-053) on Union Seven, because Hades destroy all stones and removes all abilities from Dante. Hera only allows your opponent to just play one spell per turn and I could control his resonator with my Hera and/or Hades while slowly swinging for game with my board.

Round 3

This time I was playing against ROMBOM who was on Typhon, the Infinite Monster (GRV-085) // Order of Infinity (GRV-085J).
My first search was again the Arena Expansion: Mount Olympus (GRV-073) and MVPs in game 1 I think were Dreiwing, Mechanized Wind of Destruction (GRV-040) to keep my opponent from getting extra will from Typhon’s Blood (GRV-067), and Hera, the Ninth Olympian (GRV-080) for discarding and getting knowledge (again, knowledge is key!) and being able to play it a bit more control. Thanks to Hera with Union Seven he could only play one card once per turn and I finished him off with Hestia, the Sixth Olympian (GRV-016) and my board after he played a Typhon’s Blood on my turn blood for a draw only, since he couldn’t play anything else that turn. In game 2 Hera with Union Seven was again the matchwinner here, together with an ordered Gill Lapis, Vampire Guardian (GRV-052) for get rid of his field.

Round 4

In the final round of Swiss I had play against StrangerJank aka Toby Gaffney, playing the Asmodeus (TST-044) // Asmodeus [J-Ruler] (TST-044J) & Belial (TST-073) // Belial [J-Ruler] (TST-073J) Olympian decklist from last week’s NO NAME Wanderer Tournament.  Here I go a more control route and I was super lucky to draw my cancels at the right moment, and the interaction from the elements from Zeus (The Light of Zeus (GRV-006), The Wind of Zeus (GRV-046), etc.) was super strong since you can remove one from the graveyard to play the next one for free and this is very strong in a resource game. In game 1 I was able to play and resolve an ordered Mechanized Fenrir (GRV-030) and was able to control him and win the game, since this card turns off the resonators from my opponent which are not machines, and Olympians are definitely not machines ๐Ÿ˜‰ (that, and Toby was Will screwed with a Poseidon, the Second Olympian (GRV-032) train on Union Seven). Game 2 I kill him with and ordered Mechanized Fenrir togehter with Magna and Lenneth, the Twelfth Olympians (GRV-081)

Top 4

In top 4 I had to play against SubtleAnHero who was on Typhon, the Infinite Monster (GRV-085) // Order of Infinity (GRV-085J). Since I was higher seed (I finished the Swiss round on the top spot) I decided to go second, since this was the first time during the event where I didn’t have to start (because during the Swiss rounds I always had to go first).

In Game 1 he pressure me very hard with his Typhon’s Antibodies (GRV-066), but I could cancel his first reveal with an ordered The Witch of Unblowing Wind (ADW-059) into Ares, the Eighth Olympian (GRV-075) to stop his Typhon order ablity. This eventually presented me with a board on my side and a Union Seven Aphrodite, the Tenth Olympian (GRV-071) to prevent me from losing the game, after which I could kill my opponent with my field and a Poseidon, the Second Olympian (GRV-032) loop which I finished with Wall of Terror (TST-033) in order to revive my stuff with Typhonomachy, the Final Duel (GRV-086). In game 2 I was able to finish him off with Hestia, the Sixth Olympian (GRV-016), Aphrodite, the Tenth Olympian (GRV-071), Apollon, the Third Olympian (GRV-001), Hades, the Fourth Olympian (GRV-053), and Artemis, the Fifth Olympian (GRV-039), all having Union Seven.

So now we move on to the final game of the weekend …

Final

The final match was against LampChomp who was also playing Zeus, the First Olympian (GRV-087) // Order of the Olympians (GRV-087J).  Here I chose to go second again in the first game, because I was still higher seeded. In game 1 I was able to control him and take the board advantage, after which I finished him off with Hestia, the Sixth Olympian (GRV-016), Artemis, the Fifth Olympian (GRV-039), and Poseidon, the Second Olympian (GRV-032) loop with Union Seven.

In game 2 The Witch of the Fallen Kingdom (ADW-072) helped against his first ordering, and I finished him off again with the Poseidon, the Second Olympian (GRV-032) loop after a control game on both sides.

This was my tournament report how I won my games, but on my YouTube channel you will find how the games went in more detail ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now I would like to talk a bit about my decklist and some of its tech options.

First of all, one of the best Cards in the deck which helped me a lot is Arena Expansion: Mount Olympus (GRV-073), which let me filter my hand and have Union Seven ready or just helped me recycle my stuff. Secondly, Mechanized Fenrir (GRV-030) was really good in my Sideboard, since I could reveal it with The Origin of the Seven Lands (PofA-112) and then order him to turn off so many decks.

Hades, the Fourth Olympian (GRV-053) with Union Seven is a very hard hit because it turns off the opponent’s ruler, basically blanking it without any abilities.

Poseidon, the Second Olympian (GRV-032) was an absolute powerhouse, due to its infinite loop with Union Seven; one of my favorite combos is Wall of Terror (TST-033) and Typhonomachy, the Final Duel (GRV-086), because most of the time you have so much draw and search to get your stuff in your graveyard with Wall of Terror and then you can reanimate your non-chants, non-magicstones from your graveyard back to field (and thanks to all the powerful abilities you should be able to kill your opponent with them).

With The Essence of Athenia’s Power (GRV-062) or Horn of Sacred Beasts (SKL-099) you can turn off your opponent’s graveyard and get a one-sided revive. Ayu’s Swordstrike (ADK-063), Geryon (TST-084), Gradius (ADW-022), and an ordered Phantasmal Ascendant (GOG-026) are good against The Witch of the Fallen Kingdom (ADW-072) (which is the bane of this deck, because I do lots of searching).

The Witch of Unblowing Wind (ADW-059) is good in mirror matches, because it can turn off the recover abilities from an opponent’s Artemis, the Fifth Olympian (GRV-039). She is also good against The Origin of the Seven Lands (PofA-112) into revealing Dreiwing, Mechanized Wind of Destruction (GRV-040), because she can turn off other Dreiwings effectively. I decided to play another Persephone, the Eleventh Olympian (GRV-082) in my sideboard in case I needed to reveal it with Origin of the Seven Lands to get a green or black will and have one more card for the Union Seven trigger.

Thanks for getting this far and I hope to see you all during one of the next events! If you have any questions, just leave a comment below or just hit me up on Discord under the name Mitakun aka Prince#9399.
